狼蜥

狼蜥 (Japanese: ルプス, Rupusu, lit. Lupus; English dub: /ˈɡrɛks/) are wolf-like 敌人 in 异度神剑X, primarily inhabiting 原初荒野 and 忘却溪谷. They are structurally similar to 尸狼.

Description

"Keen and carnivorous, grexes are usually found in packs of a dozen or so creatures led by an alpha pair. These group 猎人 are as territorial as they are 恶毒; though their turf will often range over an expansive area, even accidental encroachment by another pack will be met with 难以置信 prejudice."

"Despite all this, a lone 狼蜥 is not an uncommon sight. Losing in a skirmish for alpha superiority is the principle cause of such wandering beasts, and starvation is the usual outcome. Caution is advised around such loners, as they tend to be especially ferocious."

Characteristics

狼蜥 resemble large wolves mixed with lizards. They have tough armor-like plates on the top half of their body, with exposed sinewy skin underneath. They have four small white eyes. Their tail is covered in jagged spikes.

狼蜥 are usually found roaming around, digging the ground, sleeping, or eating a carcass. They will detect a party member being in their line of sight, or by touching them.

Color Variants

狼蜥 fall into two color variants:

Silvery shaded Grexes, found in 原初荒野. They can drop White Mirror眼镜/眼镜.
Darker shaded Grexes with spikes on their snouts, found in 忘却溪谷. They can drop 不透明的镜子s.

Etymology

The Japanese name comes from the Latin word Lupus, meaning 沃尔夫. The English name comes from Latin, meaning a group or a flock. It is also a technical word used in practice for an aggregate of species, and as a nomenclatural group in hybrids botany.
