劳 Huang (Japanese: ラオ, Rao; English dub: /ˈlaʊ ˈhwæŋ/) is one of the eight main playable characters in 异度神剑X. He is the 领导 of the Pathfinder Team Belisarda (English dub: /ˌbɛl.ᵻˈsɑː(r).də/) of the private military organization BLADE. 劳 has been 答格's comrade-in-arms since their days in the United States Army. He has a mutual deep relationship with 琳, who shares a similar past.

Appearance

劳 is a 男性 human with a somewhat slim but muscular figure. He has shoulder-length long black hair that he wears loose, a light beard, and grey eyes. He is of average height

Personality

劳's combat ability and sense of judgment are said to be well-noticed by 艾尔玛. Despite his cold appearance and speech, he has a sensitive side, and is very passionate and keen, as evidenced by his relationship with 琳. He cares for his squad but keeps himself distant often due to grief and resentment about the losses occurred when humanity left Earth, which also make him dismissive of interpersonal relationships between 人类 whilst in their Mimeosomes.

Gameplay

Location

When not in the party, 劳 can be found on 部门大道 in the BLADE区 of NLA, where he can be recruited by the party.

Recruitment

During 第4章, 劳 is found at 绿色门洞 in 原初荒野 where he can be recruited.

Due to story progression, 劳 cannot be recruited after accepting 第9章. After completing 第12章, his whereabouts are 未知. Upon completing Doug's 5th 牵绊, all of Lao's equipment that was still on him is returned to the character.

In battle

劳's Class is 鹰隼之眼. When he is first recruited, he is level 15 and rank 3. He wields a 矛 and a 狙击步枪. His two Signature Arts are 平衡破坏 (矛) and 燃烧殆尽 (狙击步枪). He has three skill slots. His class progression is as follows:

Story

Before Earth was destroyed, 劳 lived with his 妻子 and 女儿. 劳 joined Project Exodus in order to save his family but ended up being the only one on the 白鲸. The rest of his family burned up with the Earth, making him have an intense hatred for the rich and powerful who got aboard without having any useful skills.

劳 is first seen at the 绿色门洞 directing a Doll in 数据探针扩张 during 第4章, when 艾尔玛, 琳, 塔兹, and Cross arrive. They announce that they are going to be retrieving a piece of the 生命舱 in 夜光森林, and request his help.

劳 later accompanies the party on their quest to retrieve an alien Doll detected in 夜光森林. They are able to contact BLADE, who deploy aircraft to tow the Doll to NLA. Immediately afterwards, 劳 and the party are attacked by hostile beasts. While initially successful at defeating several of these Monster, the party begins to become overwhelmed, but are 被救了 by a 恶毒 flying creature.

Later, during the Ganglion invasion of NLA, 劳 is chosen to 防守 the alien Doll from the Ganglion. However, he convinces his team to abandon the Doll, as guarding it would do no good if the Ganglion successfully occupy the city. However, the Ganglion ultimately retrieve the Doll, causing the invasion force to suddenly retreat.

劳 later found out the truth behind their bodies causing him to snap. He announces his identity as a Ganglion spy in front of 复数部位 prominent BLADE members before stealing the 「掠夺」阿瑞斯 and heads to the 格罗斯兵器格纳库 in 黑钢大陆. He also takes the data 终端 needed to find the 生命舱核心. This prompts the party to confront him at the Ganglion base. He reveals that his bitterness towards BLADE and NLA developed from when he discovered that his family had not been among the elite chosen to board the 白鲸. After he is defeated, he acknowledges his mistakes, hands 琳 the data 终端 needed to find the Core, and asks the party to leave him and head back to NLA.

Later, when BLADE travels to the Core, they are confronted by 路克萨尔 using the 维塔, who manages to destroy part of the structure after defeat, activating internal defensive measures. However, 劳 suddenly appears and stabs 路克萨尔 in the back, revealing his defection back to the 人类. The two then sink into the pool of protoplasmic fluids. This causes 劳 to fuse with 路克萨尔, transforming them into a 奇美拉. The 奇美拉 then emerges and immediately begins to attack the 生命舱核心. Despite Lin's initial objections, the party battles and defeats the 奇美拉, causing it to dissolve.

After the credits, a following scene reveals 劳 being approached by an unidentified character. His eyes open and the text "This story never truly ends..." appears on the screen.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, 劳 appears as a 精灵 Battle on the 精灵 Board. He is a Novice (1 star) 精灵. He is represented by Snake in his second outfit, the black suit. The battle takes place on the Battlefield form of DK Jungle. The conditions are that he starts with a Staff, and his shooting attacks have increased power.

Trivia

劳 is one of only two characters (the 其它 being 古因) whose two signature Arts must both be learned by Cross before the main story can be finished. This is likely because of the events after 第9章 that render 劳 unrecruitable, which would otherwise permanently lock the player from completing the two 牵绊任务 in question.
劳 shares the same text for a few 灵魂之音 with 琳.
During Chapters 9 through 12, 劳 is shown wearing his default equipment, even if they were no longer equipped by him.
劳 and 赛莉卡 have dialogue in the game's code, even though 劳 becomes permanently unavailable before 赛莉卡 becomes a playable character.
