Cross' 生命舱
生命舱s are Mechanical Field Objects in 异度神剑X. They are escape pods which hold crew from the 白鲸 in stasis. Recovering the 生命舱 and bringing the 人类 inside back to NLA is one of the duties of the 回收部. In-game, none of the 生命舱 that can be salvaged in the field are intact, but they give experience, credits, and items.
They are not the same as 生命舱 units.

Function
Each 生命舱 contains a mim stasis unit, which can only be disengaged by external access. The mimeosome occupying it will remain in stasis forever if not rescued. It takes time for people rescued from 生命舱 to regain their senses; this period of time is called a "stasis hangover". 生命舱 transmit distress signals so that they can be located easily.
A 生命舱 can also be used to transfer someone's consciousness from one mimeosome to another. The 维修中心 contains a number of 生命舱 reserved for clinical applications. 亚德利 runs an illegal business that lets people use a 生命舱 to change their appearance.
Story
Only a few sections of the 白鲸, such as the bridge and residential sector, were built to withstand a 破坏 landing. In 其它 sections, the crew members each boarded a 生命舱 when the 白鲸 began falling to 米拉. Along with the 其它 parts of the Ark Ship, the 生命舱 were scattered across the planet's surface. However, most of the pods were destroyed in the 破坏.
After the 破坏, most of the people who were with 凪 in the residential sector were civilians. 凪 wanted aid from the Lifepods' occupants, who were mostly military personnel who helped repel the Ghost attack on the 白鲸. Before meeting up with 凪, 凡达姆's party rescued crew from 生命舱 they found along the way from the bridge to the residential sector. 凡达姆 and 凪 decided to form a squad to search for the 生命舱 and 其它 残骸, which became the 回收部.
At the beginning of 异度神剑X, two months after the 破坏, the Reclaimer 艾尔玛 logs into the Individual Recognition Attestation on a 生命舱 in 流星之谷, freeing the player avatar Cross from stasis. Cross suffers from memory loss, which 艾尔玛 attributes to the stasis hangover. Upon their return to NLA, 莫里斯 Chausson announces the rescue of 10 crew members in a news bulletin, but in reality, Cross's pod is the only one in 流星之谷 to be found intact.

Trivia
- 艾尔玛's 16-character password used to open Cross's 生命舱 has been speculated to be "youshallbeasgods", a recurring phrase in the opening cutscenes of Xeno games: "Ye shall be as gods" is the password used by Shion Uzuki in the opening of Xenosaga Episode I, and the message "You shall be as gods" appears across the monitors of the Eldridge in the opening of Xenogears. The phrase is a quote from Genesis 3:5 in the Bible.
