For those who have not completed games in the 异度神剑 series, this page contains spoilers regarding the plot. Discretion is advised. |
The Monado III, also known as Shulk's Monado or the True Monado, is a 武器 in 异度神剑. Shulk obtains the Monado III after defeating the second form of Zanza, when beings from Bionis and Mechonis unite their power. As opposed to the 其它 Monados, copy and not, the light 光束 is absent; instead, the entire sword is transparent and glows, becoming brighter when activated. Its wielder has the power to "kill the gods". With this blade, Shulk becomes a 神, and decides the destiny of the universe, with the help of Alvis.
After Zanza is defeated, if the Monado III is equipped on Shulk, it will be automatically carried to the next playthrough and New Game +, even without selecting it in the 武器 selection after completing the game.
Appearance
Shulk's legendary 武器 bears little resemblance to the 其它 Monados; in fact, the only similarity it shares with Zanza's Monado is the ring that reveals the form of its powers. Unlike the scarlet coloration of Zanza's Monado, the sword is a transparent light blue teal. The blade of the Monado III takes the form of a weaving fishbone pattern that branches downward, ending in a large triangular tip. A large hourglass-shaped 防守 now separates the Monado's ring from its hilt. The pommel of the sword is a small arrowhead design.
Notes
- It is possible to increase this weapon's critical rate up to 100% through Shulk's skill trees' passive effects. This makes Monado III the only 武器 in the game that is able to deal guaranteed critical hits.
- When Shulk reaches level 72, the Monado III's minimum and maximum Attack values both reach the maximum of 999. At this point Attack Stability gems will have no effect unless paired with an Attack Plus gem.
Trivia
- The symbol which appears on the Monado III is the kanji "神" (kami or shin), which means "god". This is to represent that Monado III can kill a 神, just as the Monado II originally shows "人" (jin or hito), which means "person", when Zanza first releases the sword on Prison Island.
