A 飞花虫

飞花虫 (Japanese: フォリウム, Foriumu) are flying flower-like 昆虫类 敌人 in 异度神剑X. They are notorious for their usage of mimicry to camouflage themselves as flowers, catching many unwary BLADE agents by surprise. Some however may be found hovering in the air rather than lying in 奇袭作战. A similar species of 昆虫类 are 晶花虫.

Description

"Devious 昆虫类 that camouflage themselves as large flowers, waiting patiently for unwary prey to approach. The instant a victim comes in contact, a powerful 酸性喷雾 is unleashed."

"Mortifoles have been known to band together at times, creating the illusion of a gorgeous field of flowers. Interestingly, they lay their eggs on the very plants they attempt to 模仿. The hatchlings are caterpillar-like in form and will sometimes cling to adults in an effort to enhance their camouflage."

Characteristics

Many 飞花虫 are often hidden underground, disguised as flowers. However, there are differences between disguised 飞花虫 and true flowers. For example, 飞花虫 tend to be perfectly upright, even on slopes, unlike flowers which follow the gradient. The "petals" of disguised 飞花虫 also tend to sway ever so slightly.

Color Variants

飞花虫 fall into four color variants: Yellow, White, Green, and Red.

• Golden 飞花虫 live in temperate areas around 原初荒野 and 夜光森林 and drop 飞花虫金羽s.
• Green 飞花虫 live in dry areas around 忘却溪谷 and drop 飞花虫绿羽s.
• Red 飞花虫 live in hot areas and drop 飞花虫赤羽s.
• White 飞花虫 live in wet areas around 原初荒野 and 夜光森林 and drop 飞花虫白羽s.

Etymology

• The Japanese name may come from the Latin folium, meaning leaf or petal.

Trivia

• Info during 第3章 in the BLADE区 tells of a 女性BLADE who had an encounter with a 飞花虫 and is now mortally afraid of all flowers.
