Recharge is a game Mechanic in 异度神剑 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country. After certain actions such as Battle Arts or Blade Specials are used, their recharge gauge becomes empty and needs to be filled by a specific amount before they can be recast again.

Recharging an Art or Special is a mostly active process, requiring the use of Auto-Attacks or 其它 Arts, but it can be helped by the use of Pouch Items and certain equipment or 牵绊 Chart skills. 复数部位 其它 factors such as higher 牵绊 or Cancelling Attacks will affect recharge, allowing for faster art and special use.

Driver Arts / Vanguard Arts

Arts are normally recharged for each Auto-Attack that 攻击 an 敌人. An art with a recharge value of X will generally require X Auto-Attacks to be charged.

Each art in the game has unique recharge requirements that can be lowered by using 武器 Points or MAX 牵绊 to upgrade them to higher levels. At the beginning of a battle, Arts have an empty gauge by default, however they can start fully charged once certain skills are unlocked in the 牵绊 Chart of the Driver.

The following factors affect art recharge:

  • Each Auto-Attack recharges all arts by 1.
  • Blade Switching recharges all arts by 100%.
  • Some Pouch Items such as Desserts passively recharge arts every second (up to 1 per second). This emulates the Cooldown Mechanic of 异度神剑 and 异度神剑X.
  • Recharge rate will increase or decrease in battle as 牵绊 fluctuates. At MAX 牵绊, the Driver gains 25% more Art recharge per action or effect.
  • Some Blades have access to the Recharge Boost Blade Art, which boosts art recharge rate by 50% for 15 seconds.
  • Arts with Critical Recharge effects will increase their own recharge gauge by a percentage if they inflict Critical Hits.
  • Double Attack effects like the ones granted by Moon Cube, Star Cube, Galaxy Cube or Black Cube and some Core Chip special effects effectively double Auto-Attack recharge gains whenever they activate, as repeated attacks apply their own recharge bonuses independently.
  • Certain Blade Skills have effects that can increase recharge, such as Mythra's "Lightspeed Flurry", Pandoria's "Quickest Purple" and Corvin's "Ictus".
  • Sheathing the 武器 will fully deplete recharge for all arts.

Rear 防守 Arts

In Torna ~ The Golden Country, Rear 防守 Arts function slightly differently than regular Arts, as they passively recharge by 1 every second akin to a cooldown. All 其它 recharging effects and actions that affect Vanguard Arts still apply nevertheless, stacking together and allowing for the time between recasts to be greatly reduced.

Blade Specials

Blade Specials are normally recharged through the use of Arts and by cancelling actions. Performing well on Button Challenges will also contribute to charging Specials faster.

All Specials of levels I to III have the same recharge requirement of 40, which can always be cleared by using four arts at most. Higher level specials require the previous level to be fully charged before they can be recharged. Level IV specials don't have a recharge requirement, instead having a 3 second cooldown (9 for Mythra's "Sacred Arrow") while at MAX 牵绊.

The Special Gauge always starts the battle empty and can only be recharged while the Driver and Blade are connected by an 牵绊 Bond. All equipped Blades share the same gauge, so the state of recharge will be kept even after a Blade 开关.

The following factors affect special recharge:

  • Each Art used recharges the Special Gauge by 10.
  • Cancelling an Auto-Attack will grant an additional recharge bonus depending on the attack of the combo that is cancelled: +5 for the first attack, +10 for the second and +15 for the third.
  • Cancelling Arts or Blade Switches will grant an additional recharge of 10. Cancelling into Specials grants no recharge bonuses.
  • Clearing the Button Challenge of a Special will grant recharge depending on the performance: +5 for GOOD, +10 for COOL and +20 for 优秀.
  • Some Pouch Items such as Instruments passively recharge specials every second (up to 8 per second). This emulates the Cooldown Mechanic of 异度神剑 and 异度神剑X.
  • Some Glove accessories increase special recharge when cancelling: Gauntlet, Bio Gauntlet, 楠o-Metal Gauntlet, Carbon Gauntlet.
  • Zeke's "Camaraderie" and Addam's "Bonds of Friendship" skills increase special recharge when cancelling by 20%. All 其它 Drivers have similar unlockable skills on their New Game+ exclusive Hidden 牵绊 Charts.
  • Certain Blade Skills have effects that can increase recharge, such as Mythra's "Lightspeed Flurry" and Akhos "Endless Cycle".
  • Difficulty Levels can affect special recharge. Bringer of Chaos halves all special recharge gains.
  • Sheathing the 武器 or reaching minimum 牵绊 during combat will fully deplete the special gauge.

Boosting recharge in combat

During combat, movement cancels the animation of Auto-Attacks. Since the first attack of the Auto-Attack combo is usually the fastest one for most 武器 classes, it can be useful to consecutively interrupt Auto-Attacks after hitting the first part of the combo by briefly side stepping, as doing so increases overall Art recharge speed. This is a technique unofficially named as animation or Auto-Attack cancelling.

If Special recharge is to be prioritized, cancelling on the third attack of an Auto-Attack combo is ideal. This allows an empty special gauge to be leveled up all the way to level 3 by only using five arts.
