Dolls (from the word exoskeleton; Japanese: ドール, Dōru, Doll; English dub: /ˈskɛl/) are weaponizable mechs in 异度神剑X. Doll rely on 燃料 to power them, and can be used in battle at any time, mostly against larger creatures.

The party may only acquire a Doll after 第6章, with the flight pack available after 第9章. Only BLADE members with a Doll驾驶执照 are allowed to use them. Doll have breakable parts (such as one losing its arm in battle) that will prevent them from using certain 武器 until the damage is repaired. All Doll models can transform into different types of vehicles, such as the Formula Doll transforming into a motorcycle-like vehicle. Some Doll can also transform into an armed van or watercraft.

Doll驾驶执照 and Flight Pack

After finishing 第6章 of the main plot, the Doll驾驶执照 Certification Test may be passed and obtained. Upon passing the test, a weaponisable Doll can be obtained, which can be used to assist in exploration and battles throughout Planet 米拉. After obtaining the first Doll, any playable character will also be allowed to pilot a Doll, provided they meet the minimum level requirements for their particular Doll. In addition, after 第9章 and a successful development, the 飞行模块 can be obtained, allowing the Doll to fly through Mira's sky. A significant range of actions will then be accessible, and numerous locations can be reached via flight.

Doll Types and Models

Doll Types

There are three types of Skells: light, medium and heavy. Each type has different models with specific characteristics and features.

Light Types

The Light Type Doll have low HP, but make up for this with their high Accuracy, Evasion, and 优秀 mobility during combat. They have a low 燃料 capacity, but low 燃料 consumption during flight. It is not recommended to add high 燃料 costing 武器 such as the Hexad-Partican because they will use up all of the 燃料 out of the Doll. 武器 that cost 20-200 燃料 are recommended for this type. Only light 防具 pieces can be equipped on Light Types.

Medium Types

The Medium Type Doll are well balanced and easy to maneuver. They have highly durable 防具 for each part of their body, making these individual parts difficult to destroy. If simple terms, Medium Type Doll are the Jack of All Trades for Doll. Medium Types can equip medium and light 防具 pieces.

Heavy Types

The Heavy Type Doll have the highest HP and 物理 Defense. They have the highest 燃料 capacity, making them a good choice for pilots who use powerful 武器 that are high in 燃料 consumption. In turn, because of their weight, they have so-so mobility and evasion during battle. They also have high 燃料 consumption during flight. These Doll can equip all types of 防具 pieces as long as it matches their level.

BLADE's Doll Models

There are seven types of Doll which can be purchased from BLADE: The Formula, the 贴画4 and the Urban models, which are Light Type Doll, the Lailah and Inferno models, which are Medium Type Doll, and finally the Mastema and Amdusias models, which are Heavy Type Doll. There are two different makes for each model. One is more affordable (217,000 to 548,000 Credits) and has an initial level of 30. The 其它 is much more expensive (1,740,000 to 4,390,000 Credits) but has an initial level of 50 and requires 樱庭重工 R&D to be level 5 before going on market.

DLC Doll Models

These models are unlockable in NLA during certain 牵绊牵绊任务. They must be developed at the AM 终端.

Level 60 Doll And The Ares Doll

After finishing the game, blueprints for level 60 Doll become available.

Along with these two new super Doll become available.

Level 15 and Level 20 Doll

The 都市.ST UD0220 model is the first Doll Cross receives upon completing the mission Doll驾驶执照. It is the only Level 20 Doll frame available to the player.

During 少女的翅膀, the test Doll piloted by Cross is an 方程式.XT AD0115, a level 15 version of the Formula. The equipped 武器 and 防具 cannot be changed but can be removed, kept in inventory and used after the mission. It is registered to Cross for the duration of the test flight. It is removed at the end of the mission, leaving Cross without this registered Doll.

Doll Battle

Dolls have their own levels which are independent to those of the party. During battle with Doll, Auto-Attacks are performed with Hand 武器 that can be equipped in both hands. 其它 body parts of the Doll can be equipped with 武器 allowing to use Arts. These Hand 武器 (left or right hands) can be Rods, Swords, 突击步枪, or 霰弹枪 for example.

Arts

The Doll can equip up to eight 武器 (four in each hand), each of which comes with a specific Art:

The Back 武器, which can use high power Arts, such as Railguns, 导弹, 手雷 Launchers.
The 肩武器, which can use more powerful Arts than the Back 武器, such as 导弹, Chainguns, Laser 武器. Superweapons can be equipped here.
The Arm 武器, which can use specific Arts with numerous effects, such as 盾 and Vulcans.
The 膝武器, which are characterized by short Cooldown times, such as 光束 Sabers and Hand 手雷.

Unlike ground arts, Doll Arts do not have secondary cooldowns. Each Art consumes Doll 燃料 to execute.

Some 武器 are restricted to certain slots on the Doll frame, such as the right 肩 or right back, and some 武器 are so powerful that they take up 复数部位武器 slots, such as both the right and left back or the whole back and both 肩.

超频 and 驾舱时间

Similar to normal battles (out of Doll), 超频 can be activated by consuming 3000 GP. While an 超频 is active, Doll 燃料 is not consumed, and extra effects are granted, depending on the frame model of Doll. These effects are displayed above the Arts palette upon activating 超频.

When an Art is used, the pilot may trigger 驾舱时间. Once this mode is triggered, all Arts will be charged up again, allowing for 武技可以连续使用. The Doll also cannot move while in Cockpit mode except for ascending and descending. Reflect damage is also negated.

束缚

By inflicting 破防 on an 敌人, the Doll pilot can 束缚 it, which constrains the 敌人 from moving in a violet sphere for around 10 seconds. A series of button commands appear when a player inflicts 束缚, which the player must complete successfully, lest the 敌人 immediately break free. During the 束缚 effect, the damaged inflicted on 敌人 will increase. In addition, successful completion of a button command ("Perfect") increases the Doll 燃料 by up to 100 units per button command and GP by 250.

Doll 燃料

While flying or by engaging in battle, the Doll will consume 燃料. The 燃料 gauge recovers slowly when no pilot is in the Doll, or much faster when the pilot is in the Doll during certain weather conditions. The Doll can also be refueled in the BLADE HOME, at a cost of 5000 米拉矿石 for 3000 燃料.

Appendage Damage

The individual parts of a Doll will be destroyed after taking too much damage. 武器 and Arts corresponding to the destroyed appendage cannot be used. 武器 which require both arms will be disabled if either arm is destroyed. GP will also be reduced after losing an appendage. 被破坏的Doll parts are automatically fixed after the battle ends, and damage will be healed upon activating 超频.

Doll Damage

When a Skell's frame HP reaches zero, it will be wrecked. If the Doll controlled by the 团队领导 is wrecked, a Soul Challenge determines what happens:

Perfect	The 团队领导 ejects safely with no loss of HP and secondary cooldown on all personal arts. If the Doll still has more than one unit of Doll Insurance remaining, it will be repaired at no cost. However, if the Doll has exactly one unit of Doll insurance remaining, repairing the Doll will cost one unit of Doll Insurance.
Good	The 团队领导 ejects safely with no loss of HP, but repairing the Doll will cost one unit of Doll Insurance.
Failed	The 团队领导 ejects from the Doll with only 1 HP, and repairing the Doll will cost one unit of Doll Insurance.

其它 party members automatically receive a "Perfect" rating, ensuring that their Doll will be repaired at no cost.

Doll Management

The BLADE HOME 停机库 option at the BLADE HOME 中央控制台 can be used to manage and customize the player's Doll. It also allows the 维修 of any Doll that were wrecked in battle.

Selecting a Doll in the BLADE HOME 停机库 menu will display the Skell's stats and 燃料 gauge, and the following options:

Register Doll allows the Doll to be assigned to any playable character of the same or higher level. If the Doll is already registered to a character, it can be reassigned to someone else.
Change Gear allows the Skell's 武器, body parts, and 芯片 to be changed. This differs from the main menu's Doll Gear option which is limited to the current party members' Doll.
Refuel Doll allows the Doll to be refueled at a cost of 5,000 米拉矿石 for 3,000 units of Doll 燃料.
Rename allows a custom name to be assigned to the Doll.
Customize Colors allows the Skell's colors to be changed.
Sell allows the Doll to be sold.

Doll 维修

Most Doll begin with three units of Doll insurance, except for R&D Doll which come with ten units of insurance.

If a wrecked Doll can be repaired free of charge, or by using one unit of Doll Insurance, it will be repaired automatically when the BLADE HOME 停机库 option is selected at the BLADE HOME 中央控制台. The Skell's insurance will be decremented by one if it is registered to the 团队领导 and a "Perfect" rating was not achieved on the Soul Challenge when it was wrecked, or if the Doll only had one unit of insurance remaining when it was wrecked.

If the team leader's Doll is wrecked with no insurance remaining, selecting it in the BLADE HOME 停机库 menu will give three options:

Use 救助券 维修 the Doll using a 救助券 ticket received as a 部门 reward.
Pay Fee 维修 the Doll at a cost of roughly 70% of the original purchase price of the Doll and its equipment.
Abandon permanently destroys the wrecked Doll.

It is also possible to cancel out of the 维修 menu without repairing or abandoning the Doll.

Doll 敌人

Aside from Doll registered to the party, some Doll 敌人 may be engaged in combat throughout 米拉. These include various Doll models deployed by the Ganglion, such as 奎魔战甲, 幻啼战甲, and 沸腾战甲. It is possible to salvage Doll equipment by breaking their appendages. During certain 任务, some 人造外骨骼战甲 are fought as an opponent. All Doll 敌人 are classified as 机械型.

Trivia

Dolls were designed by Takayuki Yanase, who previously worked as the mechanical 设计师 for Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Doll share similarities from the titular mechs of that series such as the usage of glowing particles when in motion, the automatic 燃料 recharge when parked, the used energy for both flight and 武器 usages, and more or less, the 超频 system to boost the performance.
