- "I was just trying to drill some combat skills into 慎吾."
- "We 开拓部 might not be a combat-first kind of outfit, but it's not like the Ganglion and the indigens just leave us alone."
- "And when we do run into trouble, I'd like him to be able to 防御 himself without having to rely on 扎登 or 蒙多 all the time."
- "Shingo's a pretty fast learner – he just lacks experience."
- "How would you train him if he was one of yours?"

- "And there's a lot to learn. Not just stuff I've figured out here on 米拉, but lessons from back on Earth as well."
- "All I ask is for him to be able to survive whatever 乱来 thing happens next."
- "Ultimately, if me or 扎登 go down, I want to know that 慎吾 is still able to go on without us."

- "But what happens if 慎吾 gets separated from the team? Or 神 forbid, is the 唯一的幸存者 of an attack? What then?"
- "The things he doesn't know are the very things that'll get him killed."
- "A rifle can't shoot for crap if it's not loaded with the correct ammo, right?"
- "The indigens on this planet aren't gonna give him a chance to learn from his mistakes. I need him to be able to walk away from whatever happens to him."
